Because it is so hot in Melbourne (and pretty much most of southern Australia), here is something to laugh at to keep you distracted from the heat. A teenager from Oregon, USA was arrested for hitting two cars whilst drunk. So how did they manage to catch him? Because he decided to boast about it on Facebook.
You see, this teenager Jacob Cox-Brown thought it would be hilarious to post on his Facebook wall “Drivin drunk… classic ;) but to whoever’s vehicle i hit i am sorry. :P”. Turns out, two of his friends thought it wasn’t funny, and reported the post to the police. The police were already aware of a hit-and-run crash that occurred, and with Cox-Brown’s admission, they went to his house, found his car and it matched the damage that caused that crash.
He has been charged with two counts of failing to perform the duties of a driver.
While Cox-Brown has deleted the post, because it was published as a public status, it is now online forever. Here’s a hint: don’t post anything incriminating on Facebook. In fact, don’t post anything incriminating at all, anywhere.
But it could be worse. You could have boasted about robbing a bank and posting it on YouTube – detailing every single little detail about the crime. Oh, wait. That actually happened.
Oh well, #YOLO.
