Wii U goes on national tour: here's where you can give one a go

Just as Microsoft have done with the Surface, Nintendo is taking their new Wii U console to a number of metropolitan shopping areas in what they call Wii U Experience Stores. The pop-up shops will showcase the new console and a number of launch titles, such as a Mario game and Nintendo Land, and focus on the new Wii U GamePad controller, pictured above.

As well as Wii U consoles, the 3DS will be available to try at the stores, with Pokemon and other Mario games, as a Nintendo press release boasts.

The pop-up and ‘Wii U Experience Stores’ can be found at the Westfield Fountain Gate Shopping Centre in Victoria and Sydney Plaza in Sydney’s George Street on 5th Nov—9th Dec, Pacific Fair in Broadbeach, Queensland, from 12th—17th Nov, King Georges Square (Area 2) in Brisbane’s Ann Street from 18th—23rd Nov, the Perth Cultural Centre in Western Australia from 5th—11th Nov and Rundle Mall in South Australia from 24th—29th November.

For full details on when the Wii U Experience will be rocking up, check it out on Nintendo’s website here. Sadly, they’re skipping any regional areas.

Will it help confusion? Perhaps. Will it justify the arguably premature release, with hardware only just on-par with competing Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 machines? We’ll have to wait and see.
