The Samsung Galaxy S III is coming to Australia – and actually, it’s out now. It announced the details in Vodafone’s live stream event today, and the phone will be with Vodafone, Telstra and Optus (plus Virgin Mobile). Vodafone is said that it will be on sale online by 11am, and by midday at its retail stores.
It basically shocked most people since, to be honest, we usually wait after the United States. The phone isn’t scheduled to launch there in June. So, getting it now is a nice touch – good job Samsung.
On Optus, if you are a current Optus subscriber, your monthly handset repayments are lower than new mobile customers. On its $50 Optus plan, a $5 handset repayment fee is included if you are an Optus subscriber, but it is $15 for new customers. On its $60 Optus plan, Optus customers don’t have a handset repayment fee; but for new customers, it is $5 per month.
Vodafone will see customers having handset repayments until you reach the Infinite $79 plan, where it include 2GB of data (or 4GB for your first year). This applies for both Vodafone customers and new customers on its network. The official page, however, hasn’t launched.
Telstra, however, is offering the phone for $82 per month. That includes $800 of calls, unlimited text and 2GB of data. That also includes a monthly handset repayment of $3 per month, and is essentially its Medium plan for $79 per month. If you don’t want to pay a monthly handset repayment, the nearest plan for that will be its $99 Large plan

The Galaxy S III features a 4.8-inch Super AMOLED display and will run Ice Cream Sandwich. It also features a 1.4GHz Quad-Core processor with 1GB of RAM, an 8-megapxiel camera with zero shutter lag, and a 1.9-megapixel front-facing camera.
