How to stop your friends event-spamming you on Facebook - the easy way

For many – like me, being a university student – peopleassume that you want to see some event in the city at some random nightclub with a cheesy name. While I’m flattered, once or twice is enough – thrice or more and you’re basically spamming me. If I don’t show up, sending it to me fifteen times is not making me reconsider. And if you are tired of the event spam, like I am, then I’ve found an easy way to make sure you aren’t bothered by that person again.

NOTE: this will make sure younever get an invite from that person ever again. If that person wants you to be invited, get him or her to Facebook Message you the link to the event, you join and say you are going or not.

And if you are happy never get another invite from them again, feel free to continue.

First, you have to go to the event’s page on Facebook. Hit Decline on the top right of the page, and then you should see a pop-up box appear (see right).

Now, you should see at the bottom of the pop-up box with a link “Ignore Invites from (name)”. Click on that link and you should get another pop-up box that asks you for confirmation, like the one below.

Hit Ignore and you are done. You don’t have to worry about friends spamming you again.

I should reiterate that it is, as far as I know, irreversible. It, however, does not mean that you cannot be invited to events hosted by this friend – another one of your friends just has to add you to the list. You can also add yourself to the event. This is basically stopping invites from a particular person known for spamming you and your friends with events.
