Square Enix reveals Final Fantasy XIII sequel

At Square Enix’s 1st Production conference, Square Enix has announce a direct sequel to the multi-million selling game Final Fantasy XIII.  The name of the game is called Final Fantasy XIII-2.  The game follows the naming tradition for sequels, similar to Final Fantasy X and Final Fantasy X-2.  The game, like Final Fantasy X-2, is a direct sequel to the original game.

The first game trailer retells the ending of the first game, Final Fantasy XIII.  Then the scene shifts to Lightning, the main character of both games and soon engage in combat with a purple-haired figure who is said to be Lightning’s rival.  The game trailer will be released to the public on the 20th this month.

The gameplay is currently unknown but it is said that game will exceed every aspect of Final Fantasy XIII.

The game’s release date in Japan is sometime this year and for Europe and the United States winter 2012 on both the PS3 and the Xbox 360.
