As well as tablets and TVs, Samsung has today announced a new 15.6″ model of the Ativ Book 9 at CES 2014. With a 1080p resolution, the laptop drops the previous Plus title, linked to a 3200 x 1800 resolution found on the 13.3″ model, in favour of a crazy “14-hour battery life”.
As well as this, the model offers both an Intel Core i5 or i7 processor, 128GB or 256GB of SSD space, 8GB of RAM, and a design which almost matches the 13.3″ model.
The screen is apparently 20% brighter, with a new anti-reflective coating. As well as this, the keyboard now has a flat key plane and new rubber-coated keys, which should reduce noise. There’s also a new audio component which promises lossless audio output for your 128kbps MP3s.
As an ultrabook, this laptop promises an amazing battery life. However Samsung has, in the past, straight-out lied about laptop battery life. Despite promising 12 hours with their original Ativ Book 9 Plus model, tests found an average of around 6 hours in reality. The display downgrade may mean Samsung is correct this time, however only time will tell.
No pricing or release details have been announced at this time in the US or Australia.
