Logitech, one of the leading computer peripheral companies, has brought out their new MK710 Wireless Desktop. This combo features Logitech’s new Incurve Keys (TM), has a three year battery life and we have been given it to test and use with our up and coming techgeek.com.au Computer.

The MK710 is one of Logitech’s latest offerings and is aimed at the everyday computer user who dislikes the messiness of a wired desktop and enjoys the freedom of a wireless desktop while also giving them comfort and style.
The MK710 offers a 3 year battery life, which is a pretty big achievement, as it runs off the same amount of batteries as most other wireless desktops. Both the keyboard and mouse are powered by 2x AA batteries each so I commend the Logitech technician’s on being able to extract that sort of life out of those batteries, even with a LCD display on the keyboard.
This combo is the one of the most comfortable combos I have ever encountered. This is because of the fact that the mouse is moulded to suit your right hand, though this may put you off it if you are left handed and that the keyboard has Logitech’s new Incurve Keys which have rounded edges and a low profile to help type easily and accurately. The keyboard also has a cushioned palm rest, which I might add I quite a lot nicer to rest your palms on opposed to the normal plastic palm rest or even just the desk. All this combined makes for a very comfortable desktop.
Another great thing about the MK710 is that it is packaged with Logitech’s Unifying receiver. This means that once you have plugged the receiver in, you can connect up to 6 of any of Logitech’s compatible wireless products to it. This can be quite useful if you have a laptop which you take to work each day, meaning you can easily connect to your work desktop as well as your home desktop. It is also small enough to stay connected to your laptop so you don’t even need to worry about plugging and unplugging it.
On the keyboard, there is an LCD display, showing the status of the Caps, Num and Scroll lock, the amount of power left in the battery and whether your or not speakers are on mute. You also have the standard media keys as well as some others like the calculator, DVD drive eject and numerous other buttons that can be accessed via a FN key, similar to those on a laptop.
The mouse features Logitech’s Hyperfast scrolling which is where the scroll wheel has no resistance and spins freely which is great for those long documents and websites that you just want to scan through. You can also turn the Hyperfast scrolling off, which can be handy when playing games and the like. Also, as mentioned before, the mouse is designed to fit your right hand so to all the left handed people, bad luck for you.
The MK710 has a great build quality, the keyboard feels sturdy and strong and the mouse is smooth and sturdy. There is is only one minor problem with this combo and that is that the keyboard and mouse can occasionally freeze up for a moment, though this is normal for a wireless combo. You only notice it more with heavy use, like gaming, so this is why this combo is not suited to gaming.
All in all, the MK710 is a well built, comfortable and feature packed combo, boasting a 3 year battery life, Incurve Keys and comes packaged with a Unifying receiver. I would definitely go out and buy this or recommend it to a friend.
