Welcome to Los Angeles in the 1940s. The brand new game LA Noire is made by the makers of, arguably, the most popular game of 2010 – Red Dead Redemption. And while this game has excellent graphics, does it stack up to one of our editor’s views?

The Good:
Excellent graphics and storyline.
-
The Bad:
Those expecting Red Dead Redemption and GTA will be disappointed.
-
Bottom Line:
Must have game for this year.
Rockstar’s most recent RPG LA Noire is one of the more unique titles out there on the market, taking on the shoes of one detective Cole Phelps in 1947 Los Angeles, gamers explore the truly distinctive and faithfully recreated city of Los Angeles.
LA Noire has an incredible story, the deep enthralling tale of La Noire is surely the major highlight of the game, Team Bondi and Rockstar Games have done a great job in researching a true masterpiece of a storyline. In addition, motion capture, the breakthrough facial recognition technology associated with La Noire makes it a genuinely difficult task to gauge whether a suspect is telling the truth or not.
The developers have done a fantastic job in encapsulating the 1947 city, no one area seems the same as an other. However despite the large landscape, there is not a lot of things to do in the free roam mode of the game, besides finding film reels, landmarks and doing street crimes there is ultimately not much to do in this vast city. Hopefully in the coming months Rockstar Games will release even more cases and more free roam capabilities to help fully take advantage of the beautiful world they have created.
The achievements/trophies in the game can at times become a little frustrating, the “Auto Fanatic” achievement/trophy which requires to drive every vehicle in the city is particularly frustrating, finding hidden vehicles are easy to find however ordinary vehicles tend to look the same after you have collected the vast majority of them and trying to find those last couple of cars is a really frustrating procedure. Secret achievements/trophies without the usage of Youtube pretty much require you to be a perfect La Noire player, but I guess that’s the point, either way looking up achievements/trophies and seeing a whole bunch of secret achievements/trophies is truly annoying.
Gamers who were expecting a Red Dead Redemption or GTA game will probably be a little disappointed but the epic storyline and detailed Los Angeles city, makes this a truly enthralling game.
