While some may take the opportunity to laugh at Apple’s misfortune, this is probably a bit of a serious issue. Apple have released an update to the iOS 7 operating system after a bug was found allowing secured/encrypted streams to be read by attackers. Initially, Apple didn’t provide any information on what the update fixed, however, basic information has been added since. The following is from the security advisory page:
Data Security
Available for: iPhone 4 and later, iPod touch (5th generation), iPad 2 and later
Impact: An attacker with a privileged network position may capture or modify data in sessions protected by SSL/TLS
Description: Secure Transport failed to validate the authenticity of the connection. This issue was addressed by restoring missing validation steps.
iOS 7.0.6 is being rolled out now as a 35MB update. You can update your iOS 7 device by going into the Settings > General > Software Update.
