Really unexpected news, Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire are getting remakes and are set to release worldwide this November on the 3DS and 2DS, with the titles Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire. Here is the reveal trailer Pokemon put up on their Youtube channel:
“An epic new adventure” “A dramatic new world”? It looks like these games will not only include a graphic overhaul, but some gameplay changes as well. So they may or may not be remakes, or could even be sequels for Ruby and Sapphire. Either way I’m excited to revisit the Hoenn Region, and more importantly, the visual and gameplay improvements, especially after seeing X and Y.
The Pokemon Gold and Silver remakes followed a similar style to Diamond and Pearl, so it won’t be as much of a surprise if Ruby and Sapphire followed closely to X and Ys style. Also looking from the boxart, its interesting to see the Omega symbol on Groudon’s hands, and an Alpha-like symbol on Kyogre’s face and flippers.
