Iomega has announced a new HD media player that you simply connect to your home network so you can watch your movies and (pirated) television shows on your plasma or LCD television in the living room. The ScreenPlay Director HD Media Player has a 1TB capacity and playbacks your files in full 1080p – meaning that the files like DivX, H.264 and WMV files that are optimised for HD will be able to look at their very best.
It will also have online features, like access to Shoutcast, YouTube and Flickr, along with podcast and RSS feed support, if you are bored with what is inside the hard drive. If you happen to blow your internet cap on something, then you can use the three USB 2.0 ports and attach external devices like a camera, flash drives or a Wi-Fi adaptor.
It will be out in the US later in the month for US$249. No word if it will reach Australia yet.
