Plantronics RIG coming to Australia on October 5, priced at $150

RIG Black Mixer Gaming

Plantronics Australia has finally revealed the date for the Plantronics RIG headset – the gaming headset that can double as everyday headphones and let you accept phone calls without ever pausing the game. The RIG will come to Australia on October 5, with a reasonable pricetag of $150.

Announced back in August at Gamescom, the Plantronics RIG comes with its own mixer to let you mix audio between your game console or PC, and your phone or MP3 device (connected via line-in). It also has a mechanical switch where you can switch between talking to your gaming party, or your phone.

During PAX Australia, I managed to get my hands on the headset for a couple of minutes (I’ll get a better opinion on this once I spend some more time with the RIG) – and they are comfortable, sturdy and lightweight, brilliant if you want to stash this in your bag. Audio quality is pretty good; and given that they are $150 and can be used for both gaming and everyday listening scenarios, it’s a pretty decent buy.

The Plantronics RIG will be available from EB Games, Dick Smith, JB Hi Fi and Officeworks; and you can preorder the RIG from EB Games and JB Hi Fi from today.
