CES 2009 : While we did get information about this yesterday, we just waited until today to write this up. Panasonic, one of the “major contributors” to Blu-Ray, has introduced a brand new, and world’s first, portable Blu-Ray player – the DMP-B15.

It has a 8.9-inch WSVGA LCD screen, and has the VIERA CAST and BD Live features included; and it is said to have the highest level of image quality, thanks to the PHL Reference Chroma Processor Plus technology developed with Panasonic Hollywood Labs.

It’s battery life is three hours – so enough time to play one movie, and the battery is rechargeable. You can also use it as a Blu-Ray player, as you can hook up a HDTV with its HDMI port. It is also compatible with any HD-Audio AV receiver. It also has a SD memory card slot, so you watch HD video from the SD card instead.

VIERA CAST will also expand your selection on multimedia choices – allowing you to watch video from selected sites, including YouTube, Amazon Video-on-Demand and Bloomberg.

It should hit shelves in May, but pricing information was not available.
