OS X Mountain Lion coming July, developer preview available now

Apple today told the WWDC 2012 audience that OS X Mountain Lion will be availble in July, with availability to Snow Leopard and Lion users for US$19.99 from the Mac App Store. Meanwhile, developers can download it right now.

New additions to what we’ve already seen at previous Apple keynotes include PowerNap, which updates the system in sleep-mode (only for the MacBook Air and new MacBook Pro), a mute-switch for notifications, and a dictation feature, available anywhere in the OS.

There is also Facebook sharing and contact and calendar sync with Facebook. You can also now Like things in the App Stores and iTunes.

New purchases from Apple will include a free upgrade, and we’ll take a closer look at Mountain Lion when we’re given the opportunity.
