Nokia 301 brings Exchange email support, voice-command self portraits

nokia301

Nokia has today announced the Nokia 301 – a mobile phone that promises to offer similar experiences on the Lumia line of phones. Of course, all running Symbian. The phone will let you access your Exchange email and will include some smartphone-like features like finding the best shot when taking a burst shot.

In addition to Exchange support, it will include the big three free email carriers – Yahoo, Gmail and Hotmail/Outlook. There will be social networking apps like Facebook and Twitter, plus chatting apps from WhatsApp and eBuddy (yes, that’s still apparently a thing now). Also coming to the phone is Nokia Xpress Browser from the Asha series – which lets you browse the web faster and cheaper as Nokia does most of the processing of the page on their servers.

Another interesting feature is that you can take self portraits now with voice commands. And the only people interested in that are young people who are vain to take self portraits all the time – so you know who this phone is marketed towards.

Hardware-wise, the phone features a 2.4-inch QVGA screen with 262k colour; 64MB of RAM; and a microSD card slot that can hold up to 32GB of storage. It also includes a 3.2MP camera. The body has that retro feel – being a traditional block phone with the standout bright colours of Yellow, Blue/Cyan and Pink with the more standard Black and White.

It has a RRP of 65EUR and comes out in Q2 in more than 120 countries in Africa, Asia Pacific, Europe, Middle East, India and Latin America.
