Nintendo to announce new details on Wii U on September 14

A new Nintendo Direct broadcast has been scheduled, and to happen the day after the Apple event on September 13, 3pm London time. Or for Australians, you will be able to stream it at midnight on September 14.

The President of Nintendo of Europe, Satoru Shibata, will be conducting this broadcast; and Nintendo of Australia has said that Australasian-specific details will be released on the Australian website right after the broadcast.

If you have been living under a rock for the past year, Nintendo’s Wii U is the successor of the Wii featuring a 6.2-inch touchpad controller and support for HD (which puts it now, technologically speaking, on par with rivals Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3). At this stage, Nintendo has not confirmed a release date or pricing, but it is expected to be out this year. This Nintendo Direct event is to reveal more details and possibly a release date, pricing and some new games coming out for 2013.

Of course, you’ll find all the latest announcements on our Twitter feed for Pwnage at @tgpwnage, and also on our main feed at @techgeekcomau. Full writeups will be on the main site.
