Earlier this year rumors circulated that Halo 2 anniversary was to launch at its 10 year anniversary whilst Master Chief’s story would continue into 2015 in Halo 5: Guardians. 343 Industries, however, revealed something far more expansive than previously believed. Not only is Halo 2 getting the full the “Halo CE: Anniversary-treatment” but every other Master Chief storyline is going along with it.
That means Halo CE, Halo 2, Halo 3 and Halo 4 will be released in what is being called the Halo: Master Chief Collection.
Each and every campaign of Master Chief’s story can be told and players can mix-and-match playlists of their most iconic Halo missions. The collection features the ability to quickly switch from any of the previous games all on one disc and boasts an inflated 4000 gamescore to boot.
That classic Halo 2 multiplayer is also returning with 6 of the most iconic maps making their return including Ascension. Not only are these maps returning but all maps from the previous games (over 100!) will be included with their original engines, in dedicated servers, 60 fps and all in 1080p.
Not only does this collection come packed with all things Master Chief but it also features digital access to the Halo live-action TV series Halo: Nightfall, a story which will lead up to the launch of Halo 5: Guardians next year. Speaking of which, looks like there’s also going to be a beta for Halo 5: Guardians, welcome news for Halo fans to get a taste for the game before its launch.
