Battlefield 3 cover

So Battlefield 3 looms ever closer and the recent gameplay videos truly show what DICE’s new frostbite engine can muster. But console gamers be advised that the footage released by DICE is on the PC and this will mean that those incredibly amazing graphics may not be available on the PS3 or Xbox 360. Don’t get me wrong the graphics will be spectacular on consoles but not to the same degree as those on the PC.

DICE have decided to continue the campaign for the Battlefield 2 game. Not Battlefield: Bad Company but Battlefield 2. They have also hired an author I believe to help give the battlefield story some depth and really immerse gamers in the story.

Battlefield 3 is set for an end of year release, possibly around early to late november and is an absolute must get for lovers of shooter games. The limited edition copies of battlefield 3  is said to have the “Back to Karkand” expansion pack including more maps and achievements/trophies. For those gamers out there who aren’t familiar with Battlefield and really want to jump onboard the Battlefield bandwagon, lets get some multiplayer statistics out there for you.

On consoles the maximum game size consists of 24 players and on the PC it can cater for as many as 64, due to the restrictions of internet gaming on consoles. Battlefield is known for its large scale maps and its vehicles, both ground and airborne based. However a word of warning if the pilot of your black hawk doesnt know how to fly it GET OFF IMMEDIATELY!!! There is also a chance that actual fighter jets themselves will also be in the multiplayer experience. I know what your thinking, these are all cool and everything but what about balancing of weapons, well rest assured because DICE are certainly trying to make this a balanced as possible. For example taking down a jet can be attainable by anti-aircraft weapons, however if the pilot maneuvers away from the attack, the plane will not be impacted, so its fair both ways.

Battlefield 3 is truly trying to attain an authentic military like environment, with some epic missions and firefights and unbelievable audio effects and scenery changes with the ususal heroic flare of modern military games. In the highly competitive military shooter genre, Battlefield 3 is going to have to compete with games like Call of Duty, Halo, Crysis, Killzone, Gears of War and the Socom series. With so many military games on the market and so many more to come, DICE will have plenty of competition. But by releasing so much gameplay footage prior to E3 world gamers are clutching their keyboards and controllers respectively with bated breath.

Also I do believe their is a multiplayer beta for the Xbox 360, I’m still not sure about this so you may want to get this checked. I believe you need to purchase the limited edition of the latest (and probably last) Medal of Honor game, with the guy in a beard and a gun on the front, just in case you need more pointers. In the top left hand corner of the game will be a small sticker saying an invitation to the battlefield 3 beta is inside. Just double check that, make absolutely sure, because buying medal of honor just for the beta is probably worth it, but if after all there is no beta I do not recommend the game by itself. I’m not sure if there are respective betas for PS3 or PC but be sure to check it out if your really interested. Battlefield 3 is going to be released on the Xbox 360, PS3 and the PC so make sure to get your hands on a copy.

Stay tuned to and check out the gaming page to find out more upcoming information for the official release date and more information on the game, especially after the convention E3 which will occur in about a month’s time.
