FINALLY!! Almost two years after Mortal Kombat was refused classification, NetherRealm have received approval that Mortal Kombat: Komplete Edition can be sold on our shores. Given an R18+ rating for its “high impact violence, blood and gore, and moderate impact language and themes”, The Komplete Edition comes with ALL downloadable content, including four characters and classic skins.
Being one of the most talked about games in the past year, Mortal Kombat started the long-running debate on a mature rating for video games in Australia. With the cap at MA15+ in 2011, the game was rated ‘Refused Classification’ on the grounds of its “explicit” violence, and limb dismemberment, but with the new Australian classification system for video games starting January of this year, video games can now be given an R18+ rating.

But aside from this political baloney, the Komplete Edition version will be available for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, and includes all released DLC: such as playable characters Scarlet, Kenshii, Rain, and Freddy Krueger. Warner Bros Interactive Entertainment declined to comment on an expected release date, or whether the PlayStation Vita version of Mortal Kombat will also be sold in Australia.
