Here’s what were watching:
- WWDC has been announced, for June 11- 15th, and tickets sadly have already sold out. It took a mere 2 hours for that to happen. This year, Apple are expected to show off Mountain Lion and iOS 6, of which the latter should ship alongside the next iPhone around September, according to TechAU.
- There has been quite a serious backdoor found in some mission critical equipment, equipment used in electrical substations and other equipment that we rely on rather heavily. This backdoor has been found in RuggedCom’s Rugged OS and all you need to do in order to crack the password, is have the MAC address, which when input into a Perl script will give you the password to this device. What is even worse about this is that you cannot modify this account leaving many organisations needing to buy/upgrade their equipment.
- Telstra are, according to WPDownUnder, going to launch the HTC Titan II 4G in May. This phone is has quite a nice design as well as being pretty powerful, featuring a 1.5Ghz Snapdraggon S2 processor, 4G radio and a 4.7″ display. If this does turn true, this would be the first 4G Windows Phone device in Australia.
- And finally, Microsoft is rumoured to be showing off its Zune replacement at E3 this year. It is said to be a music streaming service with Facebook integration, a ‘scan and match’ feature, but no browser plug-ins. The source has also mentioned that this service is expected to launch alongside Windows 8 and Windows Phone 8.
