Here’s what we are watching:
- Weather in South Australia and Victoria continues to be hot due to a heatwave, but it is expected to pass tonight. Melbourne will be 35 degrees with a chance of a late storm, while Adelaide will be 37 degrees with a possible shower or two.
- The rumour mill is spinning again with speculation of an important event in New York that will focus on a media-related announcement. However, the All Things D says its not related to an iPad 3 or an Apple TV. So, we’ll be watching what’s happening.
- Spain has passed a tough new law to tackle internet piracy. Less than two weeks in office, the current Partido Popular-led government has implemented a law that could see sites blocked by ISPs or shut down completely within 10 days of a complaint – with no due process.
- Also in Europe, Belarus has now made browsing a foreign website a misdemeanor with fines of up to US$125. The law also appears to have a wider scope, with businesses and even owners and administrators of internet cafes can be held responsible if one person visits a foreign website.
- Acer and Lenovo could be launching a Wintel tablet for release in Q3 of 2012. We’ll write a full post on that rumour.
- Also new is the Mac Pro could now be reaching end-of-life stage or get a product refresh with a shipping estimate for just a slightly customised Mac Pro will now take “1-3” weeks.
