Microsoft Mobile/Nokia has confirmed that the Lumia 630 – the first smartphone with the Windows Phone 8.1. update – will be coming to Australia. It will launch on May 27 with a very attractive price tag.
The Lumia 630 will be available through Harvey Norman, JB Hi Fi, Dick Smith and other major retailers from May 27 with a price of $249. It will also be available through Vodafone from June 4 as a prepaid phone for $179.
Hardware specs include a 4.5-inch ClearBlack LCD display with Gorilla Glass 3, a 1.2GHz quad-core Snapdragon processor, a 5-megapixel rear camera, 512M of RAM, and 8GB of storage that is expandable via the microSD card slot included (supports up to 128GB). Like other mid-range Lumia devices, the covers are interchangeable.
It includes the brand new Windows Phone 8.1 update – which will include one-swipe notifications, a new Word Flow keyboard, an extra column of live tiles, and customisable backgrounds. It will also include the SensorCore feature, allowing people to track their activity all day with devices like fitness trackers without sacrificing battery life.
So, if you are looking for a smartphone on the cheap or wanting to try Windows Phone but can’t justify buying one of the higher-end devices, maybe put the Lumia 630 on your list.
