In celebration of 30th anniversary of Luigi’s first appearance in 1983’s Mario Bros, Nintendo announces that Luigi will return as a veteran fighter in the upcoming Super Smash Bros games. No information about Luigi’s moveset was announced, except that Luigi will be featured in both the Wii U and 3DS version of the game. Luigi will join other veteran fighters, like his brother Mario; while competing with the newcomers Mega Man, Wii Fit Trainer and Villager.
Luigi’s first appearance in the Super Smash Bros. franchise was in Nintendo 64’s Super Smash Bros. as a hidden unlockable character. Subsequently, Luigi has been featured as a player character in all the Super Smash Bros. games.
Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and 3DS are planned for a 2014 release.
