Nintendo has revealed that Lucina and Robin from Fire Emblem franchise will be playable in the upcoming Super Smash Bros. games for the Wii U and 3DS. Both first appearing in Fire Emblem Awakening, both characters will be suitable contenders in the Super Smash Bros. franchise. The announcement trailer is located at the bottom of the article.
Robin is able to cast various elemental spells, based on the colour of the tomb tome, allowing for various unpredictable combos. Additionally, similarly to Awakening, players are able to play as either the male or female version of Robin. Whereas, Lucina is a close-ranged sword fighter. Currently it is unknown how Lucina will differ from other sword wielding fighter, such as Marth and Ike.
Additionally, the announcement trailer marked the return of Captain Falcon to the series. Captain Falcon has been a stable in the Smash franchise, first appearing in first Super Smash Bros. game on the Nintendo 64.
Super Smash Bros. for the Nintendo 3DS will be available on October 4. While the Wii U Edition will be available around Summer 2014.
