These days if you find yourself scrambling for a cable, or trying to go through a complex process for almost anything, you question why you have to in twenty-twenty. This comes with, the now favourable, casting to TV process.
Your iOS device has mostly native support for Apple AirPlay, and unless you own an Apple TV it’s actually fairly useless. Some apps such as Spotify, and Chrome, come with custom built-in support for Chromecast and sometimes other casting devices. But unfortunately, if you want to share your iPhone or iPad screen you need to use a third-party app.
How to cast anything from iOS
If you’re trying to cast from iOS to Fire TV, Android TV, or Chromecast you will find yourself in luck with the Replica App. Here’s how with Replica.
- Connect both your mobile device and your casting device to the same Wi-Fi network.
- Launch the Replica app from your device.
- Find your casting device from the list of devices displayed.
- Tap on the desired device to connect.
- Tap “Start”

Note for Fire TV and Android TV and you need their companion apps. Download the Fire TV app here, and the Android TV app here. Lucky for us, you can use this device on both iPhone and iPad devices!
How is it?
To our surprise, performance is not a huge issue. Although there is the obvious lag from casting a device, there is no terrible drop in quality. I can imagine on much older devices there would be some performance issues, but that is expected with those devices as they tend to be on the lower end in terms of hardware compared to what we have today.
This app comes with a modern and fresh interface, unlike alternatives that are under-featured and come with an outdated interface. This was quite pleasing!
The App is free for the basics, or you can upgrade for $9.99 to clear watermarks/advertisements, enable HD mode, and other interesting tinker options such as controlling your aspect ratio. You can see the full list on their website.
Replica app provides a simple and beautiful way to cast! Grab it now on the App Store.
