Lenovo unveils new Win8 touchscreen laptops, "companion monitor" for CES 2013

Lenovo has today announced some new Windows 8 laptops as part of its pre-CES announcements. Included are updates to its IdeaPad Ultrabook line and the introduction of a “Mobile Touch Screen Companion” – a mobile monitor that gives you more real estate, able to connect to any computer wired or wirelessly.

The IdeaPad U310 and U410 include multitouch support, and feature a Core i7 processor, the latest NVIDIA GeForce grpahics card with DirectX 11 and extended battery life. They are also Lenovo’s ultrabooks, so they are really thin (at just 18mm), and will wake up in just one second with Instant Resume.

The IdeaPad Z400 and Z500 are your traditional laptop, and again include a touchscreen (given that they also support Windows 8). They include speakers that support Dolby Home Theatre v4, backlit keyboard, support up to a Core i7 processor and include an NVIDIA GeForce graphics card. The Z400 is the 14-inch screen, while the Z500 is the 15.6-inch screen.

The IdeaPad Z500 and U410 come out in April, wile the Z400 and the U310 come out in March. The Z400 and Z500 will start approximately at US$699, while the U310 will start at US$779, and the U410 starts at US$850. No word on Australian availability.

Also included is this (as you can see above) – the ThinkVision LT1423p Mobile Monitor Touch. Available in a wired or wireless option, the monitor features a 13.3-inch IPS screen protected by Gorilla Glass and offers multitouch. Basically, this screen is for those who are looking for an additional screen to go with their laptop, but also for those who want to be able to use touchscreen gestures on a non-touch PC.

Lenovo says that this should be out in Q2 for a price of US$449. Again, no Australian availability has been announced.
