Lenovo Australia has today confirmed availability and pricing of two Windows 8 products already in the market in America – the ThinkPad X1 Carbon Touch, a 14-inch notebook with a touchscreen; and the ThinkPad Tablet 2, its tablet aimed for business professionals.
The ThinkPad Tablet 2 is said to be the “world’s lightest” with a starting weight of 565g; and features Intel’s next-generation CPU, a 10.1-inch multitouch HD display, up to 64GB of storage and up to 2GB of RAM. Other specs include HDMI connectivity, NFC and 3G support. Being oriented towards business, it does have a range of IT manageability, and corporate-level security and services so they can be deployed easily by IT managers.
The ThinkPad 2 starts at $749, and available through Lenovo or through its business channels.
The ThinkPad X1 Carbon Touch is the updated version of the X1 Carbon, and weighs at 1.54kg and is just 20.8mm thin. As the Carbon suggests, the body is made from carbon fibre material, giving it durability and strength. It has a 14-inch HD+ screen with anti-glare and ten-point multitouch; an Ivy Bridge Core i5 or Core i7 processor; up to 256GB SSD and up to 8GB of RAM. Included are Dolby Home Theatre v4; and a HD facetracking webcamera with a dual array microphone.
The X1 Carbon Touch starts from under $2000, with a premium model with a Core i7 processor, 240GB SSD and 8GB of RAM goes for $3119. It is available now through Lenovo.
