Australian Manufacturer, Kogan have released a new budget smartphone at CES – one of the small amount of Australian businesses that have representation at CES. The Agora is Android based and has a dual-core 1GHz Cortex A9 processor, 512MB of RAM, 4GB of on-board storage, a 5 megapixel camera and a 5-inch screen with a resolution of 800×480.
The Agora also features dual-SIM support allowing you to have two SIM cards in the phone. The phone does not support LTE nor HSDPA+, so you’ll be stuck on simple old 3G networks. A good feature about this phone is that you can use a SIM card exclusively for packet data which could potentially save you money.
The Agora is running Android 4.0.4 (ICS) but Ruslan Kogan, CEO of Kogan, told Gizmodo that he is unsure whether or not the phone will be upgradable to the latest Android operating system, Jelly Bean. However, negotiations are currently being held with the undisclosed manufacturer.
The phone is available for pre-order off Kogan’s Website and will start shipping from Kogan’s Hong Kong branch in mid-February.
