Kaching goes native for Android, will launch Facebook payment service in 2013

Commonwealth Bank yesterday announced that you will be able to pay and save on Facebook through its new Kaching service – allowing you to make quick payments and check their balance all through the social networking service. In addition, Android users will be rejoicing as the bank has also announced a redesign of their app.

The Android app will soon become “native” – meaning that the app will not look like a port of the iOS app. It will also include a new interface – we assume using the Holo UI – and improved performance. That said, the app still won’t support NFC, unlike its iOS counterpart. That is due to Commonwealth Bank’s reluctance to use it due to security reasons (as in, it cannot make sure your transactions are secure through NFC).

The new redesigned app is expected to go live in mid-December. CommBank for Facebook is expected to be live in 2013.
