Instagram have officially announced their new video sharing feature for their popular photo sharing application. The app now allows you to take 15 second videos and offers easy video editing and 13 new filters dedicated to videos. Announced at Facebook HQ this morning, the feature is being rolled out today to iOS and Android applications as an update.

This is the biggest change to the platform since it’s inception almost two and a half years ago since it has been limited to just static images. Kevin Systrom, Co-Founder of Instagram said in a blog post, “Some moments, however, need more than a static image to come to life. Until now these stories have been missing from Instagram.”

The new feature has come under some criticism however saying the service is too similar to Vine, the service that offers small 6 second videos. Either way, 15 seconds could be just too long for some users. What do you think? Let us know in the comments.
