iPhone 4S tops one-million preorders within 24 hours

So, 24 hours after opening the floodgates and at least one million people have said that they are going to get the iPhone 4S.

Despite all the hullabaloo from all the business people and user comments across the web saying that they were all waiting the iPhone 5, the latest iteration of the iPhone seems to be warming up to consumers.

“We are blown away with the incredible customer response to iPhone 4S,” Phil Schiller, senior vice president of Worldwide Product Marketing said in a statement. “The first day pre-orders for iPhone 4S have been the most for any new product that Apple has ever launched and we are thrilled that customers love iPhone 4S as much as we do.”

According to Apple, the iPhone 4S topped the pre-order record of 600,00 set by the iPhone 4.

The iPhone 4S was released with mixed fanfare, with consumers upset because it simply did not meet expectations of an LTE (4G) iPhone with a teardrop body, instead faced with a body that was the same as the iPhone 4 but with faster hardware specifications.

Yes, because consumers with a vocal opinion on the internet are really that vein. MacTalk’s Anthony Agius has a summary of the complaints, and his response to those complaints (and if you want a clean-cut version of that argument, click here)

The iPhone 4S will released in consumers on October 14 to Australia, the United States, France, United Kingdom and Germany.. Another 22 countries will be getting it by the end of October.
