Huawei is getting a bit crafty with their new smartphones running on Android. The Chinese phone maker has announced the Ascend P6 featuring a quad-core 1.5GHz processor and a 4.7-inch screen. And measuring at just 6.18mm thin, the Ascend P6 is the world’s slimmest phone (well, until a certain company bearing a name of a fruit decides to beat that).

Launched in London, the phone features a lightweight and sleek metallic body and will have 8GB of storage with a mciroSD card slot (up to 32GB). It will also include an 8-megapixel rear camera that can record in full 1080p HD, a front-facing 5-megapixel camera, and a large 2000mAH battery (given the screen size – obviously it’s necessary). Sadly, this phone is not a 4G phone – it does support HSPA+ however.

The OS is Android Jelly Bean 4.2 with its customised Emotion UI skin – which has been updated to include facial recongition, panoramic shooting and enhanced phone security. Emotion UI also includes battery optimisation and power saving technology that will, according to Huawei, improve its performance by more than 30 percent.

We’ll see.

The Ascend P6 is in black, white, and pink. Huawei has confirmed that it is indeed coming to Australia, but has not confirm specifics such as price, date and carrier. It is launching in China this month, and in Europe next month.
