HTC One XL comes to Telstra - joins LTE network

The HTC One XL – the sister phone to the HTC One X – is heading to Telstra and will join the company’s growing list of phones that support its LTE 4G network. The phone, running on Ice Cream Sandwich, features the same body and 4.7-inch display as the HTC One X.

However, unlike the HTC One X, the phone features a 1.5GHz dual core processor, as opposed to the 1.5GHz Tegra 3 Quad-Core processor. This is likely due to the fact that it is an LTE phone, and no chip has been made to support LTE as of yet. In addition, you will get 32GB of storage on the device (but no expandable memory) and NFC support.

The phone also includes Beats Audio support – giving you “awesome sound quality” (obviously if you have a Beats headphone, then you’ll truly experience it) – and an 8-megapixel camera that also is said to take 0.7 seconds to start up, and has rapid fire continuous shooting. It also has a 1.3-megapixel front-facing camera.

Again, to take full advantage of Telstra’s 4G network, you will need to live within 5kms of the nearest GPO if you live in the capital cities (1km for major regional areas). Of course, you can still access its 3G network with this phone, and depending on the area, your speed depends on your nearest tower.

Telstra has started preorders, and you can get this phone under the $59 Freedom Connect Plan with a $6 monthly handset repayment fee, and that includes $550 included calls and MMS, unlimited SMS and 1.5GB of data. Business customers can get this phone for $3 per month under its $90 Business Mobile Advantage plan.

As well, Telstra will give the first 300 customers who preorder online a free set of Beats Solo High Performance On-Ear Headphones with ControlTalk. Though, while they look good, they’re simply overpriced headphones.

The phones will be available in Telstra stores on June 5.
