Assault Rifle: This high-capacity automatic weapon is a classic from Halo: Combat Evolved. It can fire up to 32 rounds before having to be reloaded, but each round inflicts only a small amount of damage. Attempting to fire for too long will result in the loss of a lot of accuracy.
Pistol: The Pistol is a very useful sidearm for close battles, and skirmishes. It now has a 2x scope like in Halo: Combat Evolved. It’s a handheld clone of the Designated Marksman Rifle (see below), with higher recoil, but a faster fire rate. To use this gun to it’s fullest, shoot slowly and accurately; the recoil will punish you if you don’t.
Designated Marksman Rifle (DMR): The rival to the Needle Rifle, the single shot weapon fits somewhere between the Sniper Rifle and Battle Rifle. It’s deadly at range but a fast trigger and careful aim make it dangerous at close and medium range. Just make sure you have a close-combat weapon also because it doesn’t fair well when you’re up close and personal.
Sniper Rifle: The Sniper Rifle is a powerful single-shot weapon that’s designed to quickly eliminate foes from a distance, although it can be used at closer ranges. The Scope looks a lot different, more rounded. And a bit smaller.
Shotgun: The Shotgun is particularly effective when used against unshielded enemies and can be useful for pounding the rear sides of hunters when they turn around. As well as inflicting plenty of damage at close range, its effectiveness is reduced the farther away an enemy is.
Rocket Launcher: The Rocket Launcher needs no description. Shoot, explode, teabag, repeat.
Grenade Launcher: The Grenade Launcher is a shoulder-fired single-shot weapon that shoots explosive ammunition. Despite the name, it does not shoot hand grenades but rather its own shells.
Heavy Machine Gun: The Machine Gun Turret (also detachable) happens to be new to the Halo: Reach arsenal. A Machine Gun is a very effective weapon against enemy ground forces and light vehicles.
Spartan Laser: One of the major weapons returning from Halo 3 is the Spartan Laser, a powerful beam weapon that can destroy just about anything in the game in one blow. It was arguably the most powerful handheld weapon in the game back then, but it requires a lot of skill to use properly.
Combat Knife: The Combat Knife is a multi-purpose infantry-sized knife used for close quarters. Altough it is already known from Buck in ODST, it will now make a gameplay appearance in Halo: Reach.
