There’s been a plethora of Halo 5 news coming out Gamescom’s press event so lets take a look at some of their more important announcements. I’ve already covered the new announcement of “The Pink and Deadly Edition” but other bundles and information were released out of Cologne.
First of the bat is the new Xbox One Halo 5 Guardians Limited Edition Bundle and Halo-themed Astro headsets. The Xbox One console features the sound effects of both the plasma grenade charging up when the power switch is turned on and the smart-link sound when the eject button is pressed. The Bundle features:
- Limited Edition 1TB console with custom Halo sound effects
- Custom wireless controller with 3.5mm headset jack so you can plug in any compatible wireless controller
- A digital copy of Halo 5: Guardians and limited edition content including:
- Uniquely-designed Spartan themed SteelBook®
- Warzone REQ Bundle: 14 Premium Requisition packs
- Halo: The Fall of Reach – Animated Series
- Guardian model by Metal Earth®
- Spartan Locke’s Classified Orders
- Dossiers on Blue Team and Fireteam Osiris
- Xbox Live Gold 14-day Trial – perfect for playing with friends
Both the console and wireless controller are Spartan Locke-themed in design. The limited edition wireless controller also has a 3.5mm audio jack which is compatible with most major gaming headsets. The Xbox One Chat headset is also included with the bundle. The special edition Xbox Wireless controller is also available separately in two separate designs for $69.99 USD and will be released early in October whilst the cost of the bundle is $499.99 USD and will be available from October 20th (22nd in Japan). The digital download codes can be pre-downloaded ready-to-play on the official launch date of the 27th of October. The ASTRO Gaming A40+ MixAmp M80 Halo 5: Guardians edition headset will be released in September for $220. Check out the video and pictures below:
Now onto some multiplayer news and if it wasn’t obvious before 343 Industries is really pushing for Halo to re-claim its throne as a key eSports contender. The biggest announcement on the eSports front is the $1 million Halo World Championships coming later this year.
