Halfbrick Studios shows off Colossatron: Massive World Threat

Colossatron_wallpaper03_2048x1536_iPadHalfbrick Studios – the Brisbane-based game developers at Fruit Ninja, Jetpack Joyride and Fish Out of Water – have used their PAX Australia panel to announce their brand new game Colossatron: Massive World Threat.

The Halfbrick team also showed off a gameplay trailer as part of their panel. Playing as a the gigantic robotic snake Colossatron, your main objective is to wreak havoc on Earth. By collecting different coloured power nodes that represent a different weapon or ability,  as well as being able to combine them to create new colours and powers, players build and shape Colossatron to become an unstoppable force of destruction.

The game is themed around a news report, where Metro 6 Action News report on the action as you’re playing the game. Whilst destroying the city, the military under control of General Moustache will try and stop you, and your success is measured by the amount of damage caused. So you know how insane the gameplay will be.

Also at the panel, the Halfbrick team delivered some insight on being the biggest gaming developers in Australia. What is it like to work at Halfbrick? What was the process of making games like Fruit Ninja and Jetpack Joyride?

The panel covered the history of the company and how they came to be, looking at the development process of their biggest titles, discussing the importance of communication between developers, players, platforms and the media, as well as the concept of creating a video game.

There were a lot of great things to come out of this panel, especially their support for the fans, insight on being an Aussie developer, and thoughts on branching out to different platforms.

More details of the game will be revealed in the upcoming weeks.
