Garmin is also planning to release a new series of GPS units for the consumer market. Called the Nuvi 2400 Series – they feature four new GPS units with a large five-inch diagonal display, allowing it easier to read navigations and to navigate through the options easily, in addition of some other features.
All four units will have Garmin’s nuRoute technology, which promises advanced route planning and route calculations.
The Nuvi 2450 and 2450LM will have detailed map coverage and will be compatible with Garmin’s traffic service (you will have to pay extra), with the 2450LM offering lifetime map updates – giving map updates four times a year.
The Nuvi 2460LT and 2460LMT will feature lifetime traffic service, in addition to hands-free calling via Bluetooth and voice-activated navigation. However, the Nuvi 2460LMT will also include lifetime map updates.
While it has not been confirmed that this will expand outside of North America, they are expected to be out on store shelves in the US in the first quarter of 2011 for a price range between $249.99 and $349.99.
Full press release is after the jump.
