While the device is coming already in America today via its store (with retail outlets selling the device in a couple of weeks); Australian Fitbit aficionados will have to wait until next year to get their hands on the Fitbit Force, the company’s latest fitness device announced today.

The Force is similar to the Fitbit Flex in that it is worn like a wristwatch, but comes in an all-in-one package instead of separating the device and the wristwatch strap. It features a small OLED display that will tell you the time; your fitness stats like steps taken and calories burned; and later on, call notifications (which is coming soon via a firmware update, according to Fitbit, and appears to be only available on iOS7).

Syncing is a breeze with Bluetooth 4.0, and Android users can simply use NFC to tap the Fitbit Force on their smartphone to start the syncing process. Battery life is – according to Fitbit – between 7 and 10 days.

The device, however, will be pricy. It will cost $169.95 in Australia and will come in two colours – black and ‘slate’ (I’m assuming it’s the blue colour). You can get it next year on its online store and through retail channels.
