E3 2014: Super Smash Bros lets you create your own playable character

Nintendo may not do grand presentations like Sony and Microsoft, it doesn’t mean that they don’t make big announcements. The company has revealed that you will be able to use your Miis and create your own playable characters in Super Smash Bros for Wii U. And yes, it can be anyone – you can create yourself, your family members, celebrities, or Nintendo of America’s chief operating officer Reggie Fils-Aime. The list is limitless.

Masahiro Sakurai, the game’s lead developer, said in the presentation that he wanted to introduce this feature in Super Smash Bros. Brawl for the Wii, but decided against it because it “didn’t seem right” to have Miis fighting each other.

These custom characters will choose from one of three fighting styles: brawlers, who fight with fists and feet; swordfighters, who will use weapons in combat; and gunners, who get a mysterious arm cannon that is useful at long ranges. Each fighter comes with 12 special moves, which the player has to choose four.
