It was announced at today’s Microsoft E3 conference that a Killer Instinct would be an Xbox One exclusive. FINALLY! After 17 years of waiting for a follow up to Rare’s Killer Instinct Gold, KI fans can rejoice with this awesome reboot.
Phil Spencer from Microsoft Studios teased last week that a “historic IP” from Rare might make an appearance at E3. With rumours of a new Banjo Kazooie, Conker and Perfect Dark, It was heavily speculated that Killer Instinct would be announced, especially with the renewing of the Killer Instinct license,
For those who don’t know much about the franchise, Killer Instinct was a fighting game series developed by Rare in 1994. Competing with fighters such as Mortal Kombat and Street Fighter, the franchise had a unique ‘create-a-combo’ fighting style and health system (That is now being used in Injustice) and was the origin of C-C-C-C-Combo Breaker.
A release date has not been confirmed, but the game will ship along with a Tournament Edition Fightstick from MadCatz. KI Developer Double Helix Games (Along with Rare) wrote on its website that the game will be playable at E3 this week and in public at secret locations that will be announced today.
