After much speculation on when the Chromecast will be officially available in Australia, including rumours that Telstra was negotiating with Google to launch the device bundle their services; Dick Smith has started taking preorders for the cheap streaming device.
The page has also revealed that the device will be coming on May 28, and the price will be $49. In the United States, where the device has been available since last July, the Chromecast costs US$35 (roughly AU$38 at the time of writing).
We expect that other retailers – including its own Google Play store – will also start selling the Chromecast on May 28. We’ll keep you posted on the official availability information from Google Australia.
