The four carriers selling the Galaxy S4 – Telstra, Optus, Vodafone and Virgin Mobile – have all announced their plan offerings. And, as expected, you’ll be paying more per month because of the cost of the phone (it costs $899 outright). So, what are the carriers offering?

Telstra

$87 per month on their Everyday Connect $80 plan. This includes $800 worth of international national calls and MMS, plus unlimited SMS to any Australian numbers and 1.5GB of data. Telstra is also selling the phone outright for $816.

Telstra is selling this in select Telstra stores from April 27. The stores include:

  • NSW: George St; Miranda; Bondi; East Maitland; Penrith; Wollongong
  • ACT: Canberra
  • QLD: Queens Plaza, Brisbane; Carindale; Chermiside; Robina; Mt Gravatt; Helensvale; Indooroopilly
  • TAS: Hobart

  • WA: Hay Street; Joondalup; Booragoon; Rockingham

Vodafone

The Galaxy S4 is on sale on Vodafone for $65 per month – on its $60 Vodafone Plan with $5 monthly handset repayment fee. This comes with $700 of included national calls and MMS, unlimited standard national and international SMS messages, and 1.5GB of data. No monthly handset repayment fee is available from its $80 Vodafone Plan and higher.

The minimum you will need to spend on this phone is $50 – on its $30 Vodafone Plan with 200MB of data and $200 of included calls, MMS and SMS, plus a $20 monthly handset repayment fee.

Optus

The equivalent plan for Optus, compared to Telstra, costs $67 per month on their $60 Optus Plan with $7 monthly handset repayment fee. It includes $650 of included value, but unlimited national SMS, unlimited voice calls to any Optus mobile number, and 1.5GB of data.

It also has an $83 Optus plan offering on their $80 Optus Plan with a $3 monthly handset repayment fee. It includes $850 of included value, but unlimited national SMS, unlimited voice calls to any Optus mobile number, and 2GB of data.

However, if you’re looking for a cheap option, the minimum you will need to spend per month is $49 – on its $30 Optus Plan with $200 of included value and 200MB of included data, plus a $19 monthly handset repayment fee.

Virgin Mobile

The Galaxy S4 will cost $61 per month under their Big Plan $49 with $12 monthly handset repayment fee. This comes with unlimited SMS messages to any mobile number in Australia, $450 of credit, and 2GB of data included.

Virgin Mobile is also offering a special “Mates Rates” deal for existing customers. The $61 plan – its Big Plan $59 plus a $2 monthly handset repayment fee – has unlimited SMS messages to any number in Australia, $700 of credit and 3GB of data.

The minimum you will need to spend is $48 – and that’s on its Big Plan $29 plan with a $19 monthly handset repayment fee. This comes with $250 of included credit (with unlimited calls, SMS and MMS to any Virgin customer) and 250MB of data.
