In recognition of Steve Jobs, California Governor Jerry Brown has declared in a tweet that October 16 will be known as “Steve Jobs Day”. The day will be a holiday in the state, to pay tribute to the man who made the personal computer as it is today.
Steve Jobs died on October 5 after a long-running battle with cancer.

The day coincides with another private memorial service by Apple where tech luminaries and elite are being invited to celebrate his life. An Apple spokeswomen confirmed the event and will be held on Stanford University, where he was the commencement speaker in 2005; and another internal event for employees in Cupertino.
While Apple hasn’t confirmed that there will be a public memorial, it most likely appears that they don’t really need to do so. The outpouring of Apple fans towards its stores on the day of his death, some crying and others honouring his legacy, really is a testament to his impact to technology.
