Tomorrow, several Australian online retailers are partnering up in order to create a “Cyber Monday”-style event. Called Click Frenzy, for the next 24 hours from Tuesday, November 20 at 7:00pm AEDT many online retailers will be putting up special deals. But how big or little the deals are, well that’s a different story.
Some retailers that have signed up include: Myer, Toys R Us, Dan Murphy’s, Dick Smith, Jeanswest, The Iconic, Target, Bing Lee, Microsoft, Dell, Deals Direct, Big Brown Box, WOW and Teds Cameras. The full list of retailers can be found here.
For those who don’t know, Cyber Monday is a big event in America that takes place on the Monday after Thanksgiving. Predominantly designed to take advantage of the Black Friday sales that happen after the US national holiday; it has become the biggest online sales event and continues to grow bigger every year. In 2011, according to comScore, online retailers made US$1.25 billion.
But what works in America doesn’t necessarily mean that it will work in Australia. With online shopping continue to grow, many are flocking to the American websites given that the Australian dollar is on parity. While this is a great way to bring Australian shoppers to Australian online retailers – the deals need to be attractive enough to sway customers to them, not retailers such as Amazon.
