Asus reveals Transformer Book Trio - runs Windows 8 and Android, has two CPUs

asus-transformer-book-trioASUS has announced its new ultrabook called the Transformer Book Trio – and it has something unique, and something that may be considered sacrilege if you an Android or Windows fanboy. The Transformer Book Trio runs two operating systems – Windows 8 and Android – and letting you switch between the two seamlessly.

The “trio” part of its name comes from the fact that you can use the Transformer Book Trio as a notebook, a mobile tablet by removing the keyboard, or even as an actual desktop PC. And because of its trial (three things) purpose, it has two powerful CPUs – a fourth-gen Intel Core i7 processor, and a power-efficient 2.0GHz Atom processor.

Featuring an 11.6-inch full HD IPS display, the tablet includes the Atom processor with up to 64GB of storage. The keyboard dock, however, has a 750GB hard drive can be hooked up to an external display and use it like a desktop PC (except for the fact that the actual ‘box’ is your keyboard).

Because of its dual OS nature, it can run both Android and Windows 8 apps (though obviously not on the other platform) – giving you are large amount of apps to play with. Running it as an Android notebook, it has up to 15 hours of battery life. ASUS has not specified the battery life for the Windows side, however.

Pricing and availability have not been confirmed.
