ASUS has today announced another 7-inch tablet called the FonePad. Featuring a 7-inch IPS display and runs on an Intel 1.2GHz Atom Z2420 chip, it is designed to be a full 3G phone in a tablet. Yes, you read that right. It is to be a full 3G phone in a tablet form factor.
The body does look like its sister product, the Nexus 7 (they also made that device – but hopefully with a better build quality). The FonePad will have dual microphones for noise suppression and echo cancellation. There is a 3-megapixel rear camera and a front-facing 1.2-megpixel camera; and memory can be expanded with a microSD card (up to 32GB)
The ASUS FonePad starts at USD$249 with 8GB with a rear camera for the APAC region. The EU region will get the 16GB model without the rear camera for EUR219. The 8GB model for APAC comes out in March, while the 16GB model for the EU region comes out in April.
