Apple brings out new MacBook Air - with 12 hours of battery life

Apple has announced an upgrade to the MacBook Air. While there has not been a design modification; it does have improved battery life, flash storage that is 45 percent faster than the previous generation, and a fourth-gen Intel Core processor designed for power efficiency.

Both the 11-inch and 13-inch models get a large jump in their battery life. The 11-inch gets nine hours of battery life, compared to five; and the 13-inch jumps up to twelve hours. In addition, both will have support for 802.11ac Wi-Fi, and has better graphics performance (though, not the best) with the Intel HD Graphics 5000 graphics chip.

Inputs include a Thunderbolt port and two USB 3.0 ports. It can also support dual displays and video mirroring, through Thunderbolt.  It also has the FaceTime HD camera and dual microphones like its predecessor.

They start shipping today. The 11-inch model starts at US$999 for 128GB; and the 13-inch starts at $1099 for 128GB.
