Last but not least from WWDC 2011, Apple has announced MobileMe is dead and has been remade into iCloud. Apple admitted that MobleMe tarnished their reputation and has announced iCloud, a much better service, will be completely free instead of $99.

The plagued launch of Apple’s cloud service MobileMe back in 2008 saw Steve Jobs, CEO of Apple, ferociously condemning the team, labelling the problems as tarnishing Apple’s reputation, according to a new Fortune article called Inside Apple.

Jobs in email: MobileMe to “get a lot better” in 2011
Without Find my iPhone - which was recently made free by Apple in order to shore up more users for the tracking software – the MobileMe service seems to be just another cloud file storage/communications provider that you probably wouldn’t waste over $99 for it when you could get it for free at other providers.
Find My iPhone now free
With all the running around with iOS 4.2, one of the BIG things for users is the fact that if paying $80-$120 to be able to find your lost iOS device seems a tad expensive. But fear not! Apple, as of iOS 4.2, have made Find My iPhone free by creating a new account from the Settings app and verifying your email address. Once complete, you can now use Find My iPhone on a ‘qualifying’ device.
New MobileMe Calendar Officially Launched
Apple’s new revamped MobileMe interface first updated the Mail application, now it’s Calendar’s turn. The Calendar was in Public Beta in early July and has now officially exited the beta stage, being rolled out to all MobileMe customers.

What a way to end the week. On top of the news that there has been over 600,000 iPhone 4 orders, a new Mac mini and a FCC inquiry into possible anti-competitive practices by Apple, the big fruit has updated its MobileMe Web Interface and launched a new Find My iPhone App.
MobileMe accounts extended – again
In another move to make up for the problems that MobileMe has been plagued with since its launch in July, Apple has made another extension to many users, giving another 60 days for free – on top of the 30 days free extension it gave users in July.
MobileMe’s meltdown causes Apple to give a free month
The launch of the MobileMe service from Apple, which was to replace the .mac service, has been a complete failure as Apple was forced to give a free month to users for a second time.
